At Barchester, we celebrate life. This rule applies to our residents and our employees. Michelle Nairn, Care Assistant at Lethen Park Care Home, recently took part in a skydive to raise money for the home's resident fund. The money raised went towards treating our residents in the home – all thanks to Michelle's daredevil antics. A huge thank you to Michelle for taking part in the skydive to help those in our care. If you would go to great heights to care for our residents, a role at Lethen Care Home could be for you. http://ow.ly/AfYW30jkAtG

Residents in our Adlington Manor Care Home were lucky enough to be visited by some pet-assisted therapy dogs who are in training. Animal-assisted therapy uses pets to help people to better cope with health problems and illness, as well as lifting moods. Our residents loved getting to know the dogs for the afternoon. If you would like to lift the moods of the residents at our Adlington Manor Care Home, view our current opportunities here. http://ow.ly/Z1rz30jkxSi

Barchester residents like to celebrate life and the activities we organise reflect that. Residents at Wimbledon Beaumont Care Home danced their day away at our 70s themed silent disco. Our silent disco is an exercise activity to get our residents up and moving to their favourite songs, while wearing wireless headphones. Nicolas Keemew, General Manager of the home commented: "The residents and staff really enjoyed the silent disco, and Mamma Mia by ABBA was the hit of the day!" If you have a kind-hearted and caring nature, a Nurse role at Barchester may be your next career move. To find out more, visit http://ow.ly/EWnH30jkx1z

We couldn't be prouder of our team at Red Oaks Care Home in West Sussex who received an 'Outstanding' rating from the CQC. The home is ranked amongst the best in the country for the quality of service they provide - and we have their dedicated team to thank. The report was released last week, following the home's inspection on the 16th and 18th January 2018. The home was rated as 'Outstanding' in two key areas: Caring and Responsive. The CQC report states: 'People using the service, their relatives and health and social care professionals were highly complimentary about the standard of care provided, as well as the kindness and compassionate manner of the staff. This resulted in people enjoying their days at the home and an improvement of their well-being.' Linda Ryan, General Manager at Red Oaks commented: "We're ecstatic. Our team work so hard to provide the highest possible standard of care for everyone who lives at the home. We're delighted to be recognised for our work." At Barchester, we recognise that our people can provide person-centred care if they have the right support and training. This is why we run bespoke training programmes to ensure our people can provide the best care and support to our residents. Susan Dickinson benefited from the training provided at Barchester, she commented: "Since joining Prestbury Beaumont Care Home, my skills have been enhanced by the amount of training I've received. As I progressed to the Head of Unit role, I became more interested in developing and facilitating the learning of others." Barchester noticed Susan's enthusiasm, she became the home's Trainer, delivering mandatory training. This led to Susan becoming the home's NVQ Assessor. As our training programmes have grown, Susan's role has also grown: "I now support 45 Regional Trainers by delivering courses such as first aid and quality assurance checks to uphold the high standards that make us who we are."
